Sojourner Truth an amazing woman born a slave but died as someone known was able to change history throughout her life. As I did the research about this wonderful women I learned many things. I learned that her life was turned around many times as a kid. I learned that she was able to live through all of her owners the bad ones and the good. I learned that she was many things to many people. But the main reason people believe that she is a catalyst for change is because of one speech. Her first owner was Colonel Ardinburgh who died when she was still an infant. She wrote in her book “The Narrative of Sojourner Truth” “Of her first master, she can give no account, as she must have been a mere infant when he died; and she, with her parents and some ten or twelve other fellow human chattels, became the legal property of his son, Charles Ardinburgh.” (page 1) Charles Ardinburgh was known as “comparatively speaking a kind master to his slaves.” (Truth 1) The next major event in Truth’s life was the auction. At the young age of nine Truth was sold at an auction. At this memorable time, Isabella struck off, for the sum of one hundred dollars, to one John Nealy, of Ulster County, New York;...”(Truth 11 “Now the war begun. Especially between Truth and the mistress of the house. After only be owned for a year by John Nealy she was sold again, this time her new owner was known as Scriver who paid one hundred and five dollars for her. Than later again in 1810 Sojourner Truth was sold again. Her new owner was one John J. Dumont who paid seventy pounds for her. She later became freed in 1826.
