The Japanese society is completely different contrast our society. I believe that our society doesn't think about the small little things and takes a lot of the things for granted contrast the Japanese society does think about these things. While some of the Japanese society takes time out of their life to do the Naikan daily reflection or just a reflection overall of what they have in their life, in our society we don’t act in any of these acts of gratitude or reflection. Overall, this differing types of societies have an effect on our reality causing our reality to differ from the Japanese reality. There is a lot of things that we need to be appreciative of but the fact that we need to worship the floor and things of these nature are an over exaggerated way of viewing the world. I do agree that we need to be appreciative of things that we don’t think of on an everyday basis like our phones or our beds and materialistic things such as that however I believe in reality it is unnecessary for us to be appreciative of everything in our life. This also leads me to the second question that I answered as part of the reflection, I do believe that as humans especially Americans we believe that we deserve a lot of the things in this world even though we don't, there are some things in this world that was given to us that we can’t try and give back; I believe that we will always be in debt with somebody or something. To illustrate, our mother gave birth to us and helped us grow and that is simply something that no matter what we do, we can never measure to unless you sacrifice yourself. So overall, we will always either be in debt with someone or someone in debt with you. Although I do believe this, as said before, this exercise does cause me to realize that I need to give back to a lot of the things that have helped me within my life.
