The NIV Version Of Genesis

In several Old Testament passages, beginning with the first scripture in the first chapter, we see that God is the creator of heaven and earth, and mankind. God not only creates man, He also puts His spirit within humans. We were created in His image, in His likeness; therefore, we have the capacity to create and flourish. Upon careful study of Genesis through Revelation we understand that God revealed His power of creativity by inspiring man to duplicate patterns for visual arts such as sculpting, wood work, stone masonry, poetry, dancing, musical instrumentation, and theater.
The NIV version of the Bible is useful for supporting advocacy for the arts inclusion in school instruction. By using different passages from the Old Testament I plan

“Sometimes Christians will insist that the only work that is truly worthwhile, pleasing to God, and spiritual is the work of serving the proclamation of the gospel across the world” (Barrs, 21). What those Christians fail to realize is that the arts give believers another opportunity to honor God and utilize our gifts and talents for Him. Other people's creativity can also help us even when we don't realize that they do. In C.S. Lewis’s book, An Experiment in Criticism, he wrote that “Good reading, therefore, though it is not essentially an affectional or moral or intellectual activity, has something in common with all three” (Lewis, 138). Just like love, the arts allow us to escape from our own self into someone else.…

Throughout the book of Genesis there exists many conflicts: Eve’s conflict with the serpent’s lies, the conflict of Cain and Abel, the conflict Moses has with the Egyptians to free the Israelites, and then the conflict Moses has with the children in the wilderness to follow God. These are just a few of the conflicts that are discussed in the book of Genesis. Joseph is a great example of how suffering and conflict, no matter how unfair, can develop great character and wisdom. The story of Joseph starts in Genesis chapter 37 and continues to 50.…

In his image I often question what does it man to be in Gods image. Even in the little things such as the arts, new techniques were being toyed with, such as perspective, shading, color blending and oil on canvas. None of these techniques had ever been seen before and they each brought a new form of beauty to art. Religiously, everything had always been explained by the Bible and a new view came with the ages in regards to this: some decisions were better left to man. Man decides his own fate, in his own time, on his own accord, and God is also important and will help with all of man’s own accord. It was about man now, not about God.…

More than just an appreciation toward God’s creativity on art, students will be able to have a more intimate relationship with the Creator. When Christian art teachers execute Bible integration in their art classes, they little by little transform the art education itself. It may not be a drastic change in where every single teacher and student in the classroom is suddenly transformed, but step by step, students and teachers alike will be able to see the change Biblical integration can make in art education. Also through it, a student’s correct worldview about art can be formed. Developing a Christian worldview is an ever-advancing process, a process in which Christian convictions more and more shape the participation in…

("God 's Creation" 13). By this definition there is hardly an action that we perform that excludes our human creativity. A more functional understanding of this gift comes from John Piper with his beautiful declaration: "If you are God, your work is to create out of nothing. If you are not God, but like God — that is, if you are human — your work is to take what God has made and shape it and use it to make him look great" (Piper 139).…

The Story as an Essential Part of Human Knowledge Once upon a time, someone asked a question, and someone else answered with a story. Stories hold many functions in civilizations, from telling us how the world was created like Genesis in the Torah, to explaining natural phenomena such as the changing of the seasons like in the story of Dumuzi in Inanna’s myths, to providing guidance and a cultural legacy like Homer’s Iliad. Stories exist as an essential part of human knowledge to answer our questions and pass on information, allowing humans to make sense of the natural world and their cultural legacy. Looking at the stories of past civilizations up through modern ones, there is always one pattern, one story, retold in countless different…

The Bible starts with God creating all. The first sentence states that; “In the Beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). In the Old Testament, we learn that the character of God as The Creator is loving, patient, kind, just, merciful, gracious, joyful, creative, generous, and also jealous and angry. We are also told in the Bible, that we are created in His image; “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27).
