The Myth Of Thanksgiving

Decent Essays
The Myth that the first Thanksgiving was held at Plymouth Rock is true. It was held in 1621 where the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag shared food. This food varied from turkey, waterfowl, venison, fish, lobster, clams, berries, fruit, pumpkin, and squash. This is why Thanksgiving is known for a time of sharing and peace. Thanksgiving being celebrated every year by Pilgrims, is a myth that is false. Thanksgiving was not a holiday until 1863, When Abraham Lincoln proclaimed it a national holiday. Although it was a great day for all, Pilgrims and the Wampanoag, they only celebrated it once. Even though they only had one Thanksgiving, we will have many in our life time.
