Loch Ness is about twenty to twenty four miles long by around a mile wide. The deepest it goes down in about a thousand feet and is estimated to hold about 262,000 million cubic feet of water. The loch occupies a large part of the Great Glenn fault which extends from the coastline of the Black Isle in the east to Loch Linnhe in the west (Frere 9). In 1946 W.Q. The captain described the creature to be a dark brown with a yellowish white at the throat, it had no fins but had a mane of a horse or a bunch of seaweed in its neck.
