The Mystery Of The Dancing Devil

Decent Essays
I have a vintage Alfred Hitchcock book for sale.

The book is #25 in the series. The title is The Three Investigators The Mystery of the Dancing Devil. It was published by Random House in 1976.

I believe it is a 1st edition and early printing. There are 25 titles listed on the back cover and has white end papers.

There is a slight separation from the binding on the inside the front cover, along with a written name. Otherwise there is no writing, stains, or torn pages.

There are a few spots on the edge of the pages when the book is closed.

The glossy hard cover is clean with a few little spots and only a little wear. The cover paper is peeling just a little along the spine of the front cover.

For the overview or my outline if you will for the project; I’m going to provide a brief background summary of his early years of his life to see what kind of family Mr. Willis Virgil McCall comes from. I’m going to touch base on his childhood as well to see how he grew up. All these credentials come into play when we get to talking about the book “Devil in the grove” by Gilbert King. Apparently, the book takes place down in Lake County in Florida, in the late 40’s early 50’s when the Jim Crowe laws were in effect in a major fashion. Whites and Blacks were two different races and weren’t treated equal.…

Being a 16-year –old, and having taken my first semester of college classes this semester with my high school classes on top of that, all here at CSN, has been an unforgettable experience. On the other hand, from the three college classes I have enrolled in, including German 111, Communications 101, and Anthropology 101, I have, in my opinion, learned the most with my Anthropology 101 class. This class has been a great and interesting experience that has allowed me to view the world in a different way than most people. To illustrate, even though I thought most of the things we discussed in class like linguistics and archaeology were interesting, I consider learning about ethnology the most memorable and fascinating concept for me. To illustrate,…

Malnutrition is the insufficient, excessive, or imbalanced consumption of nutrients—it means literally “bad nutrition”. This was the concern of anthropologist Katherine A. Dettwyler in her book Dancing Skeletons. An ethnography set in Mali, a West African country, the book is Dettwyler’s account as she attempts to measure and document the effects of malnutrition on Malian children. Her ultimate goal is to develop “culturally appropriate nutrition education programs” (Dettwyler 1994, 7). This is not, however, an easy task as Dettwyler makes her way throughout Mali.…

Book Arrangement: Truman Capote did not number chapters in In Cold Blood, electing instead to divide the book into four distinct parts. He arranged the parts in chronological order, starting before the crime and ending with the execution. Each part included chapters separated by an extended space on the page that alternated from focusing on the killers to focusing on either the Clutter family, the detectives, or others present in the account, depending on the part. The book also included an introduction written by Bob Colacello that discussed the process that Capote went through to write In Cold Blood and Capote’s life after writing the book. Book Content…

The Devil in the Shape of a Woman by Carol F. Karlsen is about the similarities, reasons, and differences of the victims of the Witchcraft trials in colonial New England. The characteristics of society in New England during the 1600s led to many accusations of witchcraft. The Puritans who had settled the area were not found of people who were different or had different ideas compared to them. This led to many of the people who the Puritans felt were off or strange to be accused of witchcraft. The people who were at the most risk were elderly women whose husbands had died, spoke out against the Church, or believed in another religion.…

All the wicked individuals who deliberately commit the undeniable and unforgivable sin of disposing of their pure recyclables into the devil’s snare of the landfill shall be cast into the fiery inferno of hell. The devil’s snare grows deep and wider as the sins of the human race claw at its edges. The sinners look down before it with no remorse as they are engulfed in a great wall of fire, the ultimate punishment in the eyes of the all powerful God. Mortimer J. Adler's essay “How to Mark up a Book” persuades readers to start marking up books when reading. Adler brings up good points on why marking up makes us readers smarter and helps us understand what the author is saying. He then begins to talk about three different book owners. He says that the first two do not really own books because they have not physically marked up the book and keep it clean to keep the book's appearance new. He says that the one who has completely marked up the few books he/she has owned has full ownership of the books because the condition of the book shows that they have used it and continue to.…

In “How to Mark a Book” by Mortimer J. Adler to be an active reader, there is more to it than just reading. By assessing how important Mortimer emphasizes the importance of writing in a book I made sure to clarify how one can write in a book. Like in this sentence, “According to Adler, there are plenty of ways one can mark in a book; underlining, vertical lines at the margin, asterisk, numbers in the margin, circling or highlighting, writing in the margin at the bottom or top, etc.” (Chavez 1). This clearly states how one can write in a book if they do not know how to start.…

Picturebook Analysis The book’s title is “a combination of a name and an epithet or appellation” (Nikolajeva & Scott, 2006, p.242). The reader can expect that the protagonist is a boy. “Incredible” and “book eating” further reveal the theme of the story; the word “incredible” implies an evaluation of the main character, which may disclose the opinion and focus of the narrator. The cover also foreshadows what the story may be about.…
