Considered by many to be the, “Most talented Rapper of his Generation,” Kendrick Lamar has become extremely influential and popular since the release of his hit album Good Kid, M.A.A.D City (Stone). It is this great influence around which his second and most recent album, To Pimp A Butterfly, is based. Throughout the album Lamar struggles in dealing with his wealth and influence: each song is a slow progression from an abusive, wealthy consumer to a wiser man who understands the good he can do with his power and influence. At the beginning of his album, Lamar blatantly abuses his power: he is a carless, all consuming “caterpillar” (Mortal Man).…

During my investigation into the patch connections design, I utilized the butterfly simulation model. I used the simulation model to test the sensitivity of the three different patch connections (enlargement, Corridors, and stepping stones) when the death probability (NP) was adjusted up or down. The simulation demonstrated, through many runs, how the population of Fenders blue butterflies would react within the different types of patches with different death rates outside the patches. As I stated before, I used the simulation to test the sensitivity of each of the three different types of patches to three different death probabilities. For each type of patch, enlargement, corridors, and stepping stones, I set the following parameters…

Benjamin Franklin once said “[t]hose who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” The message Franklin was trying to convey is that liberty is a gift, and it should not be used as a bargaining chip for ones personal desires. His warning to all about the value of vital rights is not just right-wing propaganda, but rather a warning with truth behind it. Throughout history many people have given total devotion to a ruler in hopes of belonging to something larger then them. In both the cult of the Peoples Temple of Jonestown, and the novel The Butterfly Revolution people sacrifice their basic rights in hopes of a better life, to join something larger then themselves only to find…

The monarch butterfly, also known as Danaus plexippus, is recognized as America’s state insect with a wing span of 4 inches and 10 centimeters long – the longest wing span ever recorded within the monarchs’ insect population (Conant, 2012). Monarchs are notorious in the United States because of their spectacular migration across Canada and the United States to the overwintering sites in central Mexico – and back again. In this case, monarchs migrate between 2,000 to 3,000 miles every single year (Urquhart, F.A. and Urquhart, N.R., 1976). A monarchs ' 3,000 mile trip is like a person traveling 275, 000 miles (Opler, 2010) – that’s like walking around Earth eleven times. The main reason why Monarchs migrate from eastern North America to the forests of Oyamel in Michoacán, Mexico, is due to season change, in pursuit for food and water, or in search for a new mate (Conant, 2012).…
