If that’s the case then every teenager in that town should’ve been questioned and suspected for the murder of Hae Lee. “His family didn’t know he actually drank, smoked and had sex”. I don’t know one teenage kid that doesn’t do at least one of these things, and for them to use those actions against him just seems completely absurd. I’d say an easy 60% of teens are a lot different when they’re out of the sights of their peers and family members.
A main reason I do not believe Adnan murdered Hae is because he was an above average student, personality wise. He was nice to everyone and great in school. Adnan was not someone with a history of mental illness of any sort that would lean to the State's assumption that he thought she needed to “pay” for breaking up with him. He had a well put together school reputation before her, he was not a nobody. It wouldn’t be hard for him to go back to his life before her. There’s no logical reason to why he would want her
