His portrayal of The Mummy” brought you feelings of horror, fear, and sympathy. Many great quotes in the movie comes from karloff's voice himself, which give his character depth and a colorful background. In the 1999 version Arnold Vosloo is the actor who plays the role of Imhotep. His powers seem to be stronger and more immerse, and while he does appear to be a threat to the hero and heroine, he does not carry the same horror you will feel with karloff’s mummy. It’s interesting that this was left out, only to end up being details in the sequel. What is most special between the relationship of the mummy and the heroine in each film is that Boris Karloff’s version had many more romantic moments with the heroine. Such as this quote taken from www.imdb.com/title/tt0023245/ “My love has lasted longer than the temples of our gods. No man ever suffered as I did for you.” - Imhotep.
