Through the years, the United States has changed a lot of laws. One of the most recent changes would be the legalization of marijuana, as its a type of drug and its a crime to possess/consume drugs. Now, more than 20 states in the United States made it legal to consume and/or possess marijuana, but of course, there are strict regulations to get it, such as being over 21 and having an authorized card. But that 's not the crime I’ll be talking about, this one is more revolutionary as seen in our modern society. Couples today are more diverse, compared back to the 20th century when segregation and racism were extreme. Although, there are still some racist people around, the society is more welcoming to interracial couples now. This then led …show more content…
The story of the Lovings is such a big part of the American history, their history changed the way we see and experience the things around us. The Lovings are a black and white couple from the state of Virginia. During the 1950s, there 's a law called the Miscegenation Law, this law states that Mildred and Richard Loving can 't marry each other because this law “enforced racial segregation at the level of marriage and intimate relationships by criminalizing interracial marriage and sometimes also sex between members of different races.” making it hard for Mildred who was Native/Black descend and Richard who was …show more content…
That they can love somebody else with a different color of skin without worrying about any law. This changed the nation for the better, and I think this was a great thing to fight for. But as others rejoice for the new change, others who were shaped by their significant others and the previous social expectations are still against the whole interracial marriage. This situation is parallel to how our society is right now with same-sex marriage. Through time it was normal for others to think that being gay is a disease and that it 's shameful to be gay, because of this homosexuals were stereotyped to be bad people when they really are not. This was how blacks were seen back in the days, they were stereotyped to be violent and almost animal like when they are not, they are humans with just tanner

African Americans were not allowed to drink from the same water fountain, use the same facilities, go to the same schools, and the idea of actually having a relationship with an African American man or women was completely out of the question. Obviously, African Americans did not have the same rights and opportunities as white men and women. However, a white man and an African American woman fell in love and took it upon themselves to become wedded. On July 11th, 1958, Richard and Mildred Loving were lying in bed, not too long after becoming married, and three armed police officers stormed into the room and arrested them both and were thrown in jail, where Mildred remained for several days, all because of simply marrying and falling in love with a white man.…

The story follows two people as they try to comprehend the news of their spouses cheating on them. A pivotal part of the way Kar-wai tells their story and the stories in his other films is through the technique of framing. Filmsite describes framing as “the way a shot is composed, and the manner in which subjects and objects are surrounded ('framed') by the boundaries or perimeter of the film image, or by the use of a rectangle or enclosing shape (such as a shadow, mirror, door or hallway) within the film image.” Kar-wai uses framing in his films to enhance the visual and narrative aspects in order to strengthen his storytelling, specifically In The Mood for Love with the interaction…

The film Hearts and Minds is a documentary made by Peter Davis in 1974 to portray America’s unethical involvement in Vietnam and examine the opinions of many by showing interviews and vivid footages. The film focuses more on those who were against the war than those who supported it. For the U.S. all that mattered was the victory. However, those who were opposed to the war felt that there was no right or reasonable justification for their actions. The real issue illustrated by the film was whether the U.S. wanted to protect the country from communism or to manifest its greatest power in the world by winning another war.…
