The use of fictional aspects creates a misrepresentation for what actually occurred. For instance, in the film there is the speaking Grandmother Willow Tree who serves as Pocahontas's spiritual advisor. In the nonfiction historical documentary, trees would have served as a way to build houses or just a part of the land. In the movie, the Grandmother Willow Tree speaks, makes jokes and moves like a living thing. However, in the real hardships of Jamestown, aspects of the Grandmother Willow Tree could only be seen in dreams. This is moderately damaging because it portrays the basic landscape of Jamestown, but creates false information for the use of trees. For example, the motives for the English to sail on a voyage to the Americas were the same. In early 1600's, the English sailed to Jamestown in hopes of finding gold and economic prosperity just as the Spanish accomplished in years past. Likewise, in the film there were many jolly songs sung about finding mountains of gold in the new land. In addition, there were many references in songs explaining that the Virginia Company financed this expedition. Therefore, this teaches the main point of the exploration to Jamestown and shares some key facts that many can remember with a simple song. In other words this is moderately damaging because it shows the original English motives for exploration, but hides the concerns many had while starting on the journey to the Americas. Another accuracy that is shown is the character of Governor RatCliffe. Henceforth, the film shows RatCliffe as being selfish, greedy, fat, having a mustache and being immensely irresponsible. Many had animosity against him since he built his own Governor’s house and was irresponsible with the distribution of food and managing relations with the Natives. Moreover, in the real historical story of RatCliffe in Jamestown many of these facts are present and accurate. The presentation of Governor RatCliffe in the film is moderately damaging because it shows an accurate portrayal of RatCliffe's nature, but shows an unlikely overweight
