The island holds many secrets, including a mysterious black smoke monster, polar bears, housing with electricity, and a group already on the island called “The Others.” The writers also did an amazing job setting up questions that would be addressed throughout the show. This insured that the story line in Lost made you want to follow the show, and it always made you excited for the next episode. The plot of Lost is fairly complex due to flashbacks and foreshadowing. Each episode generally focuses on something that happened to one main character. There is then a flashback from before the crash, giving you insight about the characters lives and personality that others on the island probably don’t know about. Take Hugo for instance, he is a large, rough looking man, and he wouldn’t necessarily be expected to be rich. What the other characters don’t know is that he won the lottery and is worth over a million dollars. Each character has their secrets. Kate is a runaway convicted of murdering her stepfather and of stealing a car and money.
