The Move Research Paper

The Move I have moved six times in the course of my seventeen years of living. Moving is fun getting to discover new places and meeting new people, but moving can also be very difficult having to leave close friends that you have grown very close to over the years. I had lived in Nashville for eight years and had started to think that we were never going to move again until the summer of my seventh grade year when my dad gave us the news. Summer had started for the kids of Nashville and my family had decided to take a road trip up to Washington DC to look at colleges for my junior brother Charles. I wasn't all the excited about going, I just wanted to stay home

A universal theme for me moving from Texas to California is overcoming. I was 8 years old when my family moved, and had to overcome knowing no one, a new school, and being out of my comfort zone. At this age you tend to start making good friends, all hang out in groups, and be less adventurous. My parents kept saying, “Find people who like the same things as you, and everything else will be easy”. The next week I did just that.…

“we keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths” - Walt Disney. I’ve had three big moves in my life that had been hard for me, but not as much as this recent big move to San Antonio. It was a sunny, humid day in Edinburg, Tx and I was texting my best friend Mariela while she was home sick when my Mother texted my brother, sister and I that we were moving to San Antonio. I instantly became so full of anger because my mother wanted to move us away again after only moving to Edinburg six years ago.…

My dad and I got up around 3:30 in the morning and headed out on the seven-hour drive to our house in New Mexico. We filled up every bit of space in our enclosed trailer and began our trip home. By the time we got back to our house in Colorado it was about a sixteen-hour day. Moving back to Colorado turned out to be the best thing that happened to me at the time. I got to play football again even though it was for a short time.…

I had always moved around in my life, but this was somehow different. The hardest part about moving was going to be leaving my best friend, Cameron. As a child I moved about every three years, because my dad was a officer in the Marine Corps. By age eight I had to leave the United States and move across the world to the island of Okinawa, Japan. Okinawa is a very tropical island, much like Hawaii or any other coastal place like that. The process of actually moving to Japan involved a total of twenty four hours on commercial flights and twelve hours in an airport for a layover. When my mother and I finally arrived we were greeted at the airport by my dad who had left before us to get things situated for our arrival.…

Things you experience are one of the major factors in who you become. I am 27 years old and have moved 26 times in my life. This has made me extremely resilient to a variety of situations, especially change. I generally welcome chaos and get bored extremely easily with repetition because I am so used to things changing frequently. Most of the places I moved to were similar enough culture wise, but some of the places, like Chattanooga, TN, were very different from what I was used to.…

When people realize they have to leave everything they have known, loved and cared for twelve thousand miles away from them the impact is so great. Some people think it was easy for me to move from Australia to America, but really it is difficult to forget about. When someone moves from one house to another they don’t usually leave the country where their family, friends and memories are. As for me, in 2011 my family and I traveled to the United States to look for a house to live in. My dad was offered a new job but the catch was that we had to move.…
