The majority of average millennial television viewers can say that they don’t want to watch the commercials between shows. Everything in the millennial society moves so quickly now, they just want to get to the point. Therefore, commercials have to stand out in order to gain the attention they seek. If an ad is not cute, funny, or strange, it will likely be looked over; it will be just like every other commercial that most people can say they would rather just not see. The Mountain Dew Kickstart Ad is a great example of commercials aimed towards millennials. Most people in the millennial generation would agree that they are in the generation of "memes". Memes have taken over the millennial society and in ways, have become a part of their lives because of its viral popularity in this generation. In fact, this very ad became a meme shortly after its first air on television. The ad is aimed toward the generation that understands the weirdness or uniqueness of the commercial. If a non-millennial were to watch this very out-there commercial, it would not get the same response. The creators of the commercial are looking to appeal to this generation through the thing they all know, humor.
The creators of the Mountain Dew Kickstart commercial used all appropriate ways of targeting millennials. The ad uses popular things in this society to gain millennial attention. The Mountain Dew Kickstart commercial is very effective in their use of humor, confusion, and stereotypes. The purpose of the ad is to get this generation to want to buy their product.
