My heart is a train wandering down the tracks. I am a person who goes with the flow, and makes the most of where I am headed. Life has had its way of moving me on and keeping me strong. Life for me, has begun to fly by. From the start of applying for college to already completing my first year. I have gone from growing up in a small high school in Murphy, NC to college in Wilmington, NC. I have become more mature, independent and have grown from being shy, and timid about going through my life. I have learned to love what I love and do it as much as possible. Achieving the ultimate satisfaction of loving every minute and the best that I can be.
The most defining moment for me has been just recently. The transformation from high school to college. Thinking that I was prepared for the transformation is an understatement. I don’t even know how one can be prepared for that change in their life’s other than to experience it themselves. It has taught me many things and most of all made me appreciate things more. It took me about half the semester to come to a realization that I was now all alone. In hindsight I would always have my parents, but after I returned home for the first break of college, it hit me. It has taught to appreciate the time I have with my family. It has shown me that my family will always be by your side

One thing I am determined to do is get through college and make great friends. I’ve learned that having great friends, who support you are essential for having an easier and happier time. It gives you connections that you would never suspect. From knowing almost everyone, to knowing no one has shown me that having friends and knowing people through the community is essential to future outlooks. After college that is still uncertain, other than proceeding with the course. However, I am certain wherever life takes me that I will strive to travel around the world and fish as much as I am

Being in a bigger school, with some familiar faces, and sitting back and watching the drama rather than be part of the drama was the most life changing experience. Having time to myself and being around my family made me realize the type of person I truly wanted to be rather than the person I was. I did not want to be the stuck up girl that spent all the money my daddy made just because I could nor did I want to be the quiet shy girl who didn’t speak a word all year. However, going to college and actually completing the journey is much easier said than done. Many factors such as the price of tuition, the increased competition for scholarships and admission, and the level of support and encouragement one has affect those "college times" in a person 's life.
