The Most Influential Role Model

I consider myself apt in most of my academics; I consistently perform above average with everything I do. Although, what I enjoy and excel at most is English and Symphonic band. A number of factors contribute to my success in these subjects, one of them being the remarkable teachers who have instructed me the past twelve years. English has always been one of my favorite classes because of my affinity for poetry and literature. Over the past few years, I have gathered enough books to fill two shelves, but never would have discovered my love for reading without my sixth grade English teacher, Mrs. Schadler. She suggested some good reads, and got me hooked on books. My love of literature compelled me to perform well in English. I began to look forward to school just to go to her class and discuss a book I read. Then again my sophomore year, my English teacher completely changed my outlook on school and English. My freshman year band teacher, Ms. Coyle, has always been one of my most influential role models. She is the reason I am determined to become a music teacher. Musicians tend to be perfectionists, and Ms. Coyle was no exception. She always found something for me to improve upon so that I never stopped flourishing musically. I pushed myself harder to perform at a satisfactory level for her, and then eventually pushed myself for my own satisfaction. The following year, a new music teacher filled her position. After seeing my dedication and leadership, she promoted me to the highest leadership position in the band for my junior and senior years. My musicianship improved rapidly and I developed my leadership skills. She worked closely with me and eventually gave me the opportunity to do some student teaching in the lower band.
