Many people are usually sort of dragged into a religion or belief that their parent or parents believe in. This way has a lot of pros but the cons are more important. To begin with, the cons of being dragged into a religion are not being able to think for yourself and challenge what you believe in. When it comes to the bible we automatically believe everything that is stated. This is similar to what Pablo Freire is saying about the educational system. Based off the quote stated above from Thomas Sankar, the upcoming of the bible can be a little sketchy. Blacks were given a bible to obey from the people that controlled them in the United States. This is similar to the situation that happened during The Berlin Africa Conference in 1884-5. The lasting effect will affect people throughout the African Diaspora for a lifetime. The colonization was the cause of all of the issues that have and will always be present. In the movie King Leopold 's Ghost: A Story of Greed, Terror and Heroism in Colonial Africa, people of the Congo witnesses how King Leopold destroyed their country and killed the people that lived there. However, King Leopold still managed to be this great person according to history books. Africa’s colonization was the start of the lies and with the transatlantic movement happening this made the situation worse. The transatlantic movement made the situation worse because Negroes were now being taken away from their homeland to other countries to be slaves. This harsh act has affected so many Negroes and still is affecting them today. So many people fail to know where their homeland is because they were stripped away from that innocence. Negroes that went over to places like Haiti, Brazil and Cuba all have a culture to participate in. On the other end, Black Americans get dragged for celebrating this American culture when this is the only culture they have been exposed to.
