“Different People, Same Room”
Typically, being young means unable to afford a place to live alone. Sometimes the best solution to this dilemma is to get a roommate. Whether it’s a college dorm, lofty apartment, a cramped shared bedroom or anywhere on a college campus, I warn you to be prepared for the absolute worst. Living with a roommate is much harder if you are accustomed to living with your family members and especially when they have a different lifestyle than you. Just a forewarning, expect your personal space to be invaded and your comfort zone to be ultimately diminished. Today, I will be discussing one of the most terrifying parts of college, which is, the possibility of living with a vile roommate. In the hierarchy of worst possible roommates, the slob is at the apex. The reason behind this is because the Slob lacks basic hygiene and cleaning habits. The Slob can commonly be found in desperate need of a serious shower and surrounded by a stack of dirty clothes, food wrappers and pungent footwear. The slob will only attract insects and more filth to the dormitory. Do not be surprised to enter the kitchen and discover the dishes to be stacked to the top of the sink, as this is part of the filthy roommates’ nature. If you are attempting to come to terms with the Slob, try confronting them at first. Bad hygiene and a sloppy lifestyle are conscious choices some people make, so it might take a drastic action for them to reinvent their habits. On the flip side of the OCD Cleaner tip, this time create boundaries for their clutter, as long as it does not create odors or attract creepy- crawlies that permeate your portion of the living space. If a major issue continues, I suggest reaching out to the dormitory administration about it demanding a change of housing partner, or being house hunting somewhere

Shared Inquiry is a method of learning that enables people of all ages to explore the ideas, meaning, and information found in everything they read. The shared inquiry method centers on interpretive question, questions about a text that have more than one plausible answer. Discussion leaders employ the shared inquiry method to get participants listening, and responding to questions and answers from others in their discussion groups. If the participant digress from the main point, it is the leader’s responsibility to redirect attention with a question. Leaders must recognize when a question has been resolved and then by posing a new interpretive question, must direct the group’s efforts toward yet another problem of meaning.…

When college students first move out of their family home it can be exciting and fun for the first few weeks; then the reality of the situation sets in. Many students are faced with questions such as paying for tuition and book fees, paying for the whole semester’s rent at once, what a payment plan even is, and how to juggle social life and dating, all while keeping up with homework and tests. All of this can be very stressful for students, freshmen and seniors alike, causing erratic behavior such as substance abuse street drugs and amphetamines aka ‘study buddies’, drinking alcohol, or being holed up in their room just worrying about the next exam or being numb and having no feeling at all then spiraling into an anxious and depressive state.…

Throughout the year, as a class we have been given many different challenges in either the form of an essay, speech, or group presentation. The final assignment given to us was a group project presentation. From growing up in an age filled with technology, I have come to love projects that revolve around making some form of a PowerPoint presentation. This PowerPoint though, was both difficult and interesting for the reasons of being assigned group members not of my own choosing, learning to listen to others ideas which can help me to learn something new, and using former knowledge while working together to create a clean, in depth, and well prepared presentation. With working in groups of students whom I have known since I was young but…
