Another plane came out of nowhere and hit the second tower. I couldn’t believe this was happening. Two planes have now hit the Twin Towers and both buildings are on fire. People are screaming and my heart is racing. I felt like I was there with all the anxiety I was having. The Towers start to collapse and engulf the rest of the building on the way down. At this point I remembered my family that live in New York. Knowing my cousins would be helping evacuate people from the area. Not knowing if another plane was going to hit another building struck fear in my heart. My mom and my grandma were just as stunned as I was from what just happened.
My mom jumped up at this point and started making phone calls. Calling family and family friends to make sure they were okay. Everyone we called was okay and most were helping with the tragedy. We found out a friend of the family worked in one of the Twin Towers. He was on his way to work when his daughter was sick at school, and had to turn around and pick her up. The terrorists that attacked us are called Al Qaeda who was led by Osama bin Laden. They did not like our military in the countries and they just did not like the United States. Our troops invaded Afghanistan and got Osama bin Ladena and got the remaining terrorists. This was a proud moment in the United States and I believe this attack made us stronger as a nation. The worst part of the attack would be the lives that were lost, but there was so much beauty. There were strangers helping strangers to get out of harm’s way and lives were saved because of these acts. United We Stand is the best thing to say about this incident and we stood as a nation and we showed the terrorists that we cannot be broken.
This was the worst day of my life and I will never forget it. This day was the day my nation was attacked and my family and other family’s helped save lives. I could have lost family or friends but I didn’t, however this showed me true strength. When we as a nation is in distress we pull together to stand tall and protect what we built.
