When it comes to competition, one can prove that with courage and determination, one can triumph over the powerful. “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, is about a hunter Sanger Rainsford and General Zaroff on Ship Trap Island. Sanger Rainsford finds shelter on the island and was greeted by General Zaroff. He created a dangerous game which was to hunt humans and Sanger Rainsford was forced to participate in the game in exchange for his freedom. Frightened and sleep deprived, Sanger Rainsford tried to survive and was able to escape. In conclusion, middle class Sanger Rainsford gained his freedom and triumphed over the powerful General Zaroff. Sanger Rainsford proved that with hard work and motivation, one can thrive. The competition is unfair because General Zaroff has a complete advantage with plenty of supplies, well rested and knowledge of the island. On the other hand, Sanger Rainsford has no knowledge of the island, limited supplies and no rest. This verifies that although Sanger Rainsford required more supplies, his motivation assisted him overcome the dictator.
General Zaroff has a complete advantage because he has experience of murdering the stranded sailors. In addition, he possesses a great amount of weapons and is able to have plenty of rest in a house he constructed. He views hunting humans as a game and has no morals. This can be verified when General Zaroff states, “I suggest to one of them we go hunting. I give him a supply of food and an excellent…
