The pre-Columbian indigenous included Ancient America culture, they resided, for thousands of years, in America before Europeans invaded the western hemisphere. The natives mostly depended on hunting for food; they used bows and arrows as their weapons and became skilled archers. The natives didn’t have metal tools most of their tools were made of wood, clay, and stone. Certain pre-Columbian societies practiced agriculture while others hunt for their meal, depending on the area and climate. Ever since the discovery of America by Columbus the Columbian exchange has been in effect still today we trade goods and ideas all around the world. Many European colonist settled and conquered the new land along with Africans as their slaves. The old world introduced the new world with more goods than the other way around, their technology advances were better, and had more resources such as livestock, plants. The exchange helped the natives gain animals, guns, gun powder, ships, and many other goods at the expense of their land. The new world revolutionized England with the use of tobacco and it became of high use. The old world gained a greater contribution with the exploration of Christopher Columbus not only did they gain different crops, such as corn and potatoes, but they also became the dominant people with their diseases killing the natives of the land. The exchange however, was not just that of goods and ideas, the plagues and sickness traveled with them from Europe to the new world which caused the death of millions of Native Americans. One of the conquistadors, Francisco Pizarro, abducted the Incan emperor which resulted in large amounts of silver and gold, it was one of their greatest treasures acquired. Cortez also conquered land by fighting millions of Indians in their own land. Hernan Cortez’s army had better “military technology” as described in the book, in result it helped them win the fight and conquered riches within the land. Spain was able to acquire the treasure because the Indians would either surrender their land or because it was viciously taken from them. Spain’s success was due to the many expeditions of the explorers, never giving up and always going to different areas, coast to coast, searching for land.
