Military Pros And Cons

Concerning the Greeks and the Romans they had to fight and join the military, but this is a new age where people do not have to fight to gain respect or consider themselves worthy. The Greeks and the Romans had to prove themselves by killing each other and taking each other’s armor as a trophy. We don’t have armor to steal from each other so we don’t get the satisfaction of killing someone like the Greeks and Romans did. This is where Thomas Jefferson was wrong there are different morals we have now concerning the fact that it is not ethical to kill people just for the gratification of killing people. Citizens who are in the military gain their respect because they are willing to sacrifice themselves for the betterment of the country. Thomas …show more content…
Concerning the military right now there are a lot of soldiers that are not able to take care of their families because the government is cutting back on the funds for them. The government right now is trying to cut back on the military because they do not have the resources to keep up with the armed services they have now. The government could be wasting their money on something more important than trying to fund a military that does not even want to fight for the country. So by making a whole bunch of people join the military that do not even want to be there and getting paid less than what they make working at an average aquatic center; these citizens would not be too happy about that. They could get so many other jobs that they would not get assassinated in doing and the American people would get paid a lot better. I have no clue where the government thinks they are going to get the money to pay all of the soldiers they are making work for them. These citizens will not work for free. By making the American citizens be instated into the military you will be taking people away from other jobs that are more important, protecting the country is important, but what about the people who are working the jobs as farmers and doctors. We are already far in debt I do not think that making people work for something that they are not getting paid real well the …show more content…
The Greeks and the Romans did not care about the morals of killing people all they wanted was respects and trophies of their enemy’s armor and tell people that they ate part of the persons inside; that was not a moral thing to do, but they did it anyway. Since that time we have discovered that is not a thing that we should do. Thomas Jefferson said the wrong thing because that was just his opinion on war and soldiers who are willing to fight the draft is to get all of the people who are not willing to fight for the country and make them fight for something they might not even believe in. Reinstating the draft is not the right thing to do just because we are in a new age where it is not necessary to have that many people join the military, mostly because there is no way the government is going to be able to pay for wages for everyone who would be instated. Having citizens fight who do not want to be there is a massive risk to take when you are actually out in the field because you do not know what they are going to do, they could just leave the other team members behind not caring about

Some people feel that the draft is a necessity even during times of peace and want it to be reinstated. What those individuals really want is mandatory service requirements. The draft was used in the past because of a shortage of troops, however that’s not the case today. We should not reinstate the military draft because we currently do not need soldiers, it is unclear of who would serve and who would not and how they may perform, and the military would be demoralized due to lack of commitment and comradery from potential…

When a country can produce more troops than its enemy, as well as support from citizens the chances of victory weigh more than defeat. It is apparent that America’s government understood this concept when the Vietnam War took root. The Vietnam War consisted of a draft concluding all men from the ages of 18-25are required to fight in war. Fanatically deprived young men, who could not avoid the draft by paying for college, predominantly made up the capacity of troops. Conversely the rise of civil rights movement and the hippie movement gave a voice to young men who refused to fight in the Vietnam War and resisted the draft.…

If we don’t have enough money to give soldiers today $200,000 then we will surely not have enough to pay the thousands of people who will join the military for the money. The government will also have to buy extra guns and supplies for the new people joining. The government spends $153.531 billion on the soldiers according to datab.us/i/military%20budget%20of%20the%20United%20States. If a lot more people joined the military that amount would at least double. As you can see, paying military soldiers as much as athletes would be as unthinkable as revising the laws of gravity.…
