What makes us human? Some would say it is our appearance and how we look, but others say it is what is on the inside that makes us human, for example our morals, beliefs, and they way we interact with others. In the book, Frankenstein, Victor and his creation are contrasted of who is more human. The creature is more of a human than Victor because he shows more compassion, his longing for a companionship, and he is selfless. The creature shows more compassion than Victor, first off he worry about the family he was observing while in the hut. “I spent the winter in this manner. The gentle manners and beauty of the cottagers greatly endeared them to me: when they were unhappy, I felt depressed; when they rejoiced, I sympathised in their joys. …show more content…

My companion must be of the same species, and have the same defects.” (Shelley 104), the creature has no one, everyone runs away or harms him, he wants someone to be with. “You must create a female for me, with whom I can live in the interchange of those sympathies necessary for my being.” (Shelley 104). We have finally finished this novel and it was nothing like I had expected. I never expected to feel sympathy for the creature, but he is the only character that I felt sympathy for at all. I agree with Harold Bloom that the reader’s sympathy lies with the creature for a number of different reasons. I would find it hard to believe that Victor could receive any sympathy from the reader because of his cowardice and selfish acts. Sympathy lies with the creature because he was created without a say in the matter.…

In Mary Shelley’s novel, Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein and the Creature seem different. God created man in his own image and as Victor played the role of God it shows that he may have created the creature in his own image. Victor and his creation may not look similar, however, both seem highly intelligent and crave knowledge. Many differences can distinguish the two characters and many instances seen throughout the novel show the creature and his creator are one in the same. From Victor and the monsters interactions along with individual scenes the audience can infer the monster though never truly knowing his creator has seemed to inherit some of victor 's traits and personality.…

The monster killed family, friends, and important people in Victor's life after feeling betrayed. He became to fall ill after all of his tragedies. Victor is miserable and feels as though creating the creature has become a burden and now he cannot ever feel joy. Similarly, the creature feels miserable, too.
