Jersey Shore is an American reality television series which originally run on MTV from December 3, 2009 until December 20, 2012 in the United States. The show follows the lives of eight housemates spending their summer at Jersey Shore, New Jersey. The morality of this show can be questioned since members usually behave like reckless teenagers. Certainly there is not underage drinking, but we have to question ourselves why is this behavior shown on air as normal and acceptable. Moreover, reality-show culture has boomed nowadays, rushing the degeneration and helping to create a society in which celebrities (known thanks to technology) are the new nobility. By way of example, I would like to evaluate a particular character, Nicole Polizzi – better known as Snooki. Since the beginning of the show, this precise individual has shown the world her ‘true self’ when being intoxicated. After trying to be on top of every guy in the house and being rejected, the second day in the TV show she was already regretting being there. After apologizing and making friends, she grew up as a character most of us, fans, got to love. However, this is precisely what I would not like my children to watch, and I cannot understand why I got to watch it when I was younger (I am still young). Nonetheless, alcohol misfortune did not stop there, when in Season 3 (2010) Snooki went to jail for “causing a drunken disorder” (Daily Mail Report). After getting day-drunk, Nicole wanted to walk on the beach, running away from her roommates and friends, JWOWW (Jennifer Farley) and Deena Nicole Cortese. Unfortunately, she made a major scene and some policemen spotted her. Although she was first just being escorted off the beach, she started being a little rude which led her to spend a day in jail. But guess what? She only spent a few hours in jail thanks to the power of money, which made her pay only a small portion of her
