Two individuals in a same-sex marriage are able to watch out for, and take care of each other in a way that society and the state does not have. Same-sex couples are able to take care of children and provide a safe and nurturing environment from them just as well as a heterosexual couples. In terms of the final purpose, the only contradiction would be lesbian couples however, Halwani states, “One might think they do because if lesbians marry other lesbians, this would result in leaving many men unsettled. This is not true, because even if lesbians do not marry other lesbians, they would not marry men anyway” (Halwani, 2010). This clearly demonstrates that same-sex marriage, unlike the others discussed, serves the purpose of marriage with the only difference between heterosexual and homosexual marriage being the gender involved.
