In this essay, when I talk about being harm to others, I am focusing on human beings, not animals. Relativism has merits. The difference between cultures, it appears to be very irrelevant. Some ethical positions are relative to a particular culture. They do not have universal validity. Under the rule, no gum is allowed to be bought or sold inside Singapore and there is a $500 fine for spitting out gum on the streets. So even if I think it is right for me to have gum, I have nowhere to buy and should not spitting gum in Singapore. Because in Singapore, spitting out gum is morally wrong. While in Canada, I can have as much gum as I want. Which express the general idea of Cultural Relativism we accept. Limiting personal freedom when no harm is caused is not a good idea. Cultural Relativism seems infringes on people’s right to enjoy their lives, ability to develop themselves, freedom to express themselves. Those judgments can cause harm to individuals, not only that stop living from the life we want to have, but if we get thrown in prison because they assume we are trying to break some universal laws, then somebody might hurt us. Sexuality, especially homosexuality, is an example of Cultural Relativism limits freedom of people’s to explore sexuality. If a heterosexual person can explore heterosexual personality, why cannot the gay person explore their own gay nature? There are numerous countries forbidden gay sex in the past, and tons of innocent people die for that. If most human beings throughout history believe in something is bad that not necessarily make it bad. Even today’s society has changed, and heterosexuality is acceptable and legal in some countries, which is a huge progress. The main culture has against heterosexuality in its own way. Prejudice towards the gay community, discrimination against LGBTQ are commonly seen. Even most people believe Personal Relativism, there are still judgments against other people’s sexuality. Tons people are still staying locked in the closet, because they are afraid of those judgments and discrimination. We should be able to talk
