Though the CIA is an independent agency working for the Federal Government, its role with the Department of Homeland Security is vital. Over time, the Central Intelligence Agency has assisted the Department of Homeland Security with protecting the homeland. Since the attacks on September 9th, 2001, the Homeland Security Act of 2002 was created. This act was in place to help stop terrorism and attacks against the United States. The agency and DHS have and continue to work together to ensure that this doesn 't happen. In addition to the fight against terrorism, the Central Intelligence Agency has extended its hand very much in many efforts to help the DHS in its effort along with the CIA to continue its mission to protect the homeland. Here I will explain what each of these divisions are and how they are both vital and necessary for the agency to function. To begin, The National Clandestine Service was formed in 2005 because of the attacks on September 11, 2001.
