“The Monsters are do on Maple Street”

The play “Monsters are do on Maple Street” is prudent because people are very gullible as shown in the story. People go around shooting for no reason now-a-days. A silent street and town have gone insane just because… This is going to be why I think this story I realistic.

This small, peaceful street and town have gone psycho and started attacking one another just for a power outage because of some aliens. They blamed a child for something he could not have done at all plus he is defenseless so that shows being a pessimist. Everyone was fearful and was in denial.

These are just some reasons why I think the play is prudent. All of my reasons are things that happen in real life sadly. The world

After reading the texts, “To what extent did the Cold War shape the American domestic life of the 1950s?”, and “Monsters Are Due on Maple Street”, written by Rod Serling. I discovered that Rod Serling never specifically cites the Cold War in his teleplay “Monsters”. Yet Mr. Serling portrayed throughout the story to illustrate a picture of paranoia, distrust, and fear that created an atmosphere of the United States during the Cold War. To begin with, the setting in the beginning of the of both texts were peaceful and ideally. However, after electricity stopped working on Maple Street people were flustered.…

On October 28, 2017, I attended Desert Hot Springs High School’s theatrical performance, Love Sick, a play produced by John Cariani. Mr. Landmann is the head director of the theater department at DHSHS and was able to execute a great show with the help of his students: Matilde Alejandro, Megan Johnson, Bethany Navarro, Luis Salazar, Nathaniel Esparza, Natalia Martinez, Angel Limas, Esmeralda Hernandez, Esmeralda Salazar, Nicholas Jacob Gamboa, Baylee Bryant, Jonathan Calderon, Erika Aleman, Jesus Hernandez, Austin Aguirre, Edna Escobedo, Anjali Singh, Angel Ramirez, Elijah Cross, Michelle Lopez, Alondra Campos, Sadie Cunningham, Joseph Arisco, Maya Souza, Efrain Flores, Kimberly Solano, and Zauriah Cotton. Love/Sick is a play that contains lovers and dreamers that look into the agony and the happiness that comes with being in love and in relationships. To begin with, the plot of the play was very straightforward and unmissable. It outlined all the effects, good and bad, that comes with being in a relationship as well as depicting all the dilemmas.…

The civil rights activist Maya Angelou once said, “A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.” Often times, people listen to that song without further knowledge on what it may truly mean and fail to take the time to investigate the credibility of that bird. Along with this, us humans sometimes act as parrots, simply imitating any idiotic utterance that is conceived. In the speculative fiction book Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the episode “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street” from Rod Serling’s television anthology The Twilight Zone, and the episode “Once Bitten” from the Nickelodeon series SpongeBob SquarePants, it is clearly demonstrated that the circulation of unverified ideas can bring forth great…

    Hysteria In The Crucible

Throughout the play, The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller, hysteria fueled by the fear of witchcraft spreads like wildfire through the damaged and subdued Puritan town of Salem, Massachusetts. The Crucible illustrates that it only takes one person to make an entire society become unhinged, especially violently. Abbigail Parris’ motivation for fueling the hysteria was the power and respect that she receives as a result of it, and she, as a character, demonstrates that in the right conditions, all it takes is a spark from a strong character to set the whole world aflame, as many are always willing to join the drama. Abbigail Parris was the central figure to the hysteria throughout The Crucible, and she revels in the fact that she has the ability to create such a frenzy due to the intense conditioning she has received by the Puritan society to see herself as a powerless figure. She was lacking power as a result of her position in society and the circumstances through which she grew up.…

Frederick Douglass once said, “where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe.” We spend most of our lives reading or watching all the unfortunate things happening around us. We are so quick to judge and believe everything we hear or see. Life was the same back in the1960’s. People were more gullible and that’s because they believed what the wealthy or more influential people had to say.…
