In Fahrenheit 451’s world, when people overdose the fix is as easy as calling 911; and the technicians that are sent are able to pump all of the toxins out of the victim's body. This sort of fix to the drug abuse is only adding to the problem because if there are no serious consequences to drug abuse they will continue abusing drugs. Bradbury’s point is proven in present-day society through the article, “Confronting the rise in abuse of prescription drugs," because it provides data showing that millions of people today abuse drugs solely for pleasure or entertainment (Volkow). In Fahrenheit 451, many of the activities that children take part in are dangerous. For example, the children are constantly beating each other up and adults do not do anything about it because they have come to believe that these dangerous activities and aggressive attitudes towards each other are normal for children to have. To see the connection to our world here are some statistics.
