BubbaJay returned by himself. He threw The Misfit a yellow shirt with a bright blue parrot. BubbaJay and Hiram were told to take the mother and her two children over yonder by The Misfit. The mother said “thank you.” The Misfit felt jealous of the mother. She was going to be freed from this world. The grandmother and The Misfit were left by themselves. The old women sounded like a broken record. She began to say, “Jesus. Jesus.” The Misfit nodded and said, “Yes’m.” He thought it was about time to give the old woman a piece of his mind. He abruptly changed his vice to have the same enthusiasm as a priest, and said he said, “Jesus threw everything off balance. It was the same case with him as it was for me-except he hadn’t committed any crime. …show more content…
The old woman cried, “Jesus!” She paused then continued preaching. “You got good blood! I know you wouldn’t shoot a lady! I know you come from nice people!” With a stern face, he said, “Lady, there never was a body give the undertaker a tip.” He fate was decided the moment she recognized.
He continued, “Jesus was the only one that ever raised the dead, and he shouldn’t have done it.” When Johnny doused his father with water, he was on the verge of life and death. At any moment he could have passed from this world into the next except he didn’t. He survived. The police papers from the father and Johnny saying he lit the old man on fire. The Misfit couldn’t believe this when he was arrest, and he couldn’t comprehend that he tried to kill his own father. He was angry at him, but never hated him.
The Misfit jabbered on and said, “If he did what he said, then there’s nothing for you to do but throw away everything and follow him.” His voice cracked as he said, “If he didn’t , there would be nothing for you to do, but enjoy the few minutes you got left the best way you can-by killing somebody or burning down his house or doing some other meanness to him. No pleasure but meanness.” he
