The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane

Improved Essays
This poem is about a China Doll that is no longer needed as she is portrayed by her owner growing with age. I was inspired to write this because of the book and movie “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” which is very similar in plot and theme. I thought this poem was very striking towards the end when I wrote “this is the process of life” because your life is always changing so I thought a lot of people could connect with that.

“The Gift” – Poem Essay Li-Young Lee, an Indonesian-American author, uses phenomenal diction and literary devices to represent the passionate adoration and affection that a father will show his son. The prying of the thorn out of the son’s hand is not only a physical occurrence to explain to his son how to live a fulfilling life, but is the main theme of the poem. The theme is the key for one to realize how they are living, which is not likely to be in accord with what they strive to be. With metaphors pertaining to the “thorn” that is an untaught child within the boy, he learns about the wisdom and knowledge of the world. “Had you entered that afternoon, you would have thought you saw a man planting something in a boy’s palm……

I like this poem because of the existential themes that Edward Hirsch tackles, such as: mortality, divinity, temporality, and individuality. I can see all the images that the author describes, and feel that I am a part of the poem, too. Even though it is a short poem, it can transmit so many emotions. I think that this poem is about an old man in a wheelchair (“Wheel me down to the shore”), who feels that he is about to die.…

In the poem wishes the author Georgia Douglas Johnson uses figurative language to influence her tedious life with artistic dreams for future. In fact, when straggling in life becomes endless, often giving up seems easier, but some strong minded and determined souls never quit. According to Douglas’s poem, she illustrates three characteristics, life gets boring, never give up, and have faith in future. As a matter of fact, we’re robots in everyday life, using the same route to go to work, and meeting the regular co-workers you’ve known for ages, all this effects our social life and it becomes so monotonic that we cannot ignore the fact that our life became a circus ring as a result we seek refuge on cellphones and make it our world, yet…

In the book The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, there are a lot of themes that can be found and applied to the real world, even though this book is a fantasy book. These themes can help you deal with hardships in your life. An example of one theme would be the theme of love. The theme I will be talking about is that you have to go through the times where there’s sadness and the times where there’s happiness, because where there is sadness, there is happiness. Or in another term, when there is bad, there is good, or in vice versa.…

Life is a beautiful thing. This is further reinforced by “The Century Quilt” as it uses its tone, structure, and imagery to achieve this to be its message to the reader. I’ve read hundreds of novels, plays, and vignettes in my life, yet the story that taught me the most about being human was one about a porcelain rabbit. The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo tells the story of a china doll named Edward, who begins the story as an arrogant and vain doll loved by one young girl. Through a series of accidents, Edward is moved from family to family, and his little heart begins to feel the love he has always received. I believe The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane is a book all students in the Honors Program should read because of its multi-faceted, accessible story, and its uncanny ability to stick with the reader long after the pages are closed. Reading this book as a child, I was enraptured…

Carl Sandburg’s Chicago may be widely interpreted as one man’s visualization of his city. The author’s use of a sort of ordered free verse reflects the controlled chaos within the city itself. One must be well familiarized with Chicago and all of its parts and citizens to truly understand the order of the city’s work, play, and crime. Sandburg also uses numerous adjectives and similes, which applies a sort of personal, human-like aura to this city.…

The World Is Too Much with Us In William Wordsworth’s poem, The World Is Too Much with Us, the speaker expresses his frustration with the materialistic, greed-driven world the earth has become. The speaker insists that nature has more to offer us than what we are seeing, and desires a change of heart from mankind. The speaker uses metaphors to illustrate the divinity of the earth and idioms to describe our lack of noticing the beauty around us. The poem continues to portray the speaker’s weariness as the structure of the poem takes a shift half way through, losing its focus on society as a whole and becoming more refined to the speaker alone.…
