CNN says “Almost 1out of 5 people between 13 and 19 were Drinking the first time they had sex.” There will always be teen pregnancy, people who have children in their teens can still be successful. How many of those pregnancies were caused by alcohol? How many children will grow up feeling unwanted because they were a mistake? “about 97,000 students between the ages of 18 and 24 report experiencing alcohol-related sexual assault or date rape.” (College Drinking) Even though 24 is above the legal drinking age this shows that alcohol still severely affects people above the drinking age. Serious consequences can result by the abuse of alcohol. “Without mature frontal lobes, young people are less able to weigh negative consequences and inhibit impulsive behavior like binge drinking, which directly impacts the frontal lobe.” (Paturel) Binge drinking can cause permanent brain damage in people who are the legal age. The united states has not recently talked about changing the age. In some countries alcohol is forbidden to drink no matter what your age is. No matter what the minimal legal drinking age is underage kids will always find a way to get alcohol if they want it bad enough. There are parents who buy alcohol for their children. People think that in countries with younger minimal legal drinking ages teens learn how to casually drink with their parents or in a social setting.
