In order to review performance and improvement, data are compressed into an easily interpreted dashboard. A compiled dashboard highlights the variances, compares them to both historic institutional data, and benchmarks the facility against similar facilities. Organizations are able to focus on areas of needed change by interpreting the raw data and analyzing trends (Brown, Aydin, & Donaldson, 2008). The purpose of this assignment is to review a provided dashboard and develop a nursing action plan that will remedy the deficit in the data.

Institutions use many methods for nurse handoff and patient report. Within these different methods lie common challenges. For instance, nursing report can be lengthy, and cause nurses to finish shifts late, there is potential for information to be not accurately conveyed creating room for error, and nurses are away from patients during this time leaving a potential for dissatisfied patients or even patient harm. In circumventing call light usage all together, nurses are better able to structure their workflow in a way that minimizes interruptions and maximizes the care each patient receives through a mindful presence with undivided attention. Through increased patient satisfaction measures, increases in staff satisfaction are also
