Marijuana use has been linked to problems with babies when a mother who is pregnant smokes. It can cause problems with the unborn child’s brain. Other problems with the children can include problems with attention, memory, and problem-solving. While these are some of the many negative issues related to Marijuana use, there are also some positive aspects to legalizing this drug. One such benefit would be for medicinal purposes. Marijuana side effects can be beneficial to people suffering from nausea and lack of appetite from chemotherapy treatments. It has also been tied to the relief of some symptoms of Glaucoma, Epilepsy, and AIDS. The use of marijuana for medical purposes has been approved by some states and continues to be a hot election topic in others. While the marijuana debate now lies in the hands of individual states, a federal repeal of current marijuana laws would be very effective in my opinion.
