In the movie, The Mighty, the main character Max develops in many ways. Whether it be from his thoughts, emotions, or even how well he reads. Max changes in many ways, with the help of his new friend, Kevin. Kevin shapes Max to help him through his every moment, and to give Max purpose. The changes help Max throughout the story to deal with bullies, his dad, and other conflicts. In the beginning of the movie Max is a very passive person and also very reserved. He doesn’t want to speak up against people, because he doesn’t want to start violence. He isn’t very smart and can’t even read that well. Max lets the bullies push him around even though he is a lot bigger, because he doesn’t wanna fight. Then, Kevin moves into his area and everything

    Freak and Max needed each other for that short period in their life. Stated from the text, on page 31, Freak made fun of Tony D and his gang by calling them “cretin” which stalled the gang from almost killing them. If Max were alone at that point, being as small inside as he is, it would not end well. Freak uses his smart ways and makes fun of them and that really helps to make more time for them to escape.
