She was the midwife’s apprentice with a newborn hope of being a Midwife herself.” Alice knows what she wants and feels that she knows where she belongs. She is genuine in her choices and has strong reasons why she is who she and what builds her character. The book also says, “Jane Sharp! It is I, Alyce, your apprentice. I have come back. And if you do not let me in, I will try again and again. I can do what you tell me and take what you give me, and I know how to try and risk and fail again and not give up. I will not go away.” At this point Alice finds out what Jane meant by saying something was missing and rejected her so she made a plan. She knocked on the door and said that she would give up till Jane let her in and wouldn’t you know it the midwife opened the door.
Overall Alyce just needed to keep an open heart and think of the bigger picture. She had a good potential of being a midwife. Also she knew most of the thing about being a midwife, the place she belonged. All Alyce needed to be was determined to get the job done. Even if she failed the first few times, to keep on going, try and try again, harder and harder each time until she achieved her
