It is not always easy to follow instructions when you believe there is a better way of accomplishing the task. Military regulations require strict adherence to orders and it is best if one maintains a firm stance on decision making versus appeasement. Thinkers “are more firm-minded than gentle-hearted; if you disagree with people, you would rather tell them than say nothing and let them think they’re right” (Kroeger, 2002, pg. 12). This is not a free ticket to be close minded or negate the ability to receive feedback. Within my occupational field, it has best suited me to be upfront and honest as opposed to leave someone wondering. My weaknesses include “not naturally good at expressing feelings and affections” as well as “being unwilling or unable to accept blame” (Personality Page, 2015). My wife definitely agrees with the stated weakness. I always try to provide a logical reason to why I made the decision as opposed to simply saying I was wrong. I also feel that from an emotional perspective, I could benefit from the covenant approach described from the presentation lesson. A World View Perspective on Organizational Behavior (2012) described a covenant relationship is one based on choice. The Lord wants to fulfil his covenant relationship with us through his son Jesus Christ. Clearly, this goes against what I am inclined to pursue as an INTJ via logic.
