Martin and Jennie R. Ward (2008) have compelled information that backs the claim of humor working during conflict beneficial when they say, “Besides enhancing positive feelings and bonding in relationships, humor can also serve to stabilize a relationship during times of disagreement or conflict. For example, humor can communicate underlying feelings of affection despite overt disagreements, to relieve tension during an argument.”(Lorne Campbell, Rod A. Martin and Jennie R. Ward, 2008, pg.2) This proves humor as a great conflict management style in the workplace especially when you’re somewhat close to those workers and there is no mediator authority such as the boss to deescalate the problem. In the future of workplace conflicts I will continue to implement humor and mediators in problems, because I’m not perfect and sometimes I might not be able to see the opposing sides argument We can learn that after reading this paper that conflict is inevitable in the workplace weather good or bad.
