Body Image, it’s something that affects everyone. You can see yourself or other people in a positive or negative way. On average 80% of Americans watch television on a daily basis, up to 3 hours each day. Millennials will spend most of their lives on their phones and on social media. With such an influx of media constantly it’s easy to be swayed mentally into believing everything in the media. While some believe that skinny people are healthy and happy, all body types should be celebrated because of the need for high self-esteem and to counter the damaging effects of images in the media.
Children are strongly influenced by the media and how they promote that skinny is perfection. Children have very influential, moldable and naive minds(“The Effects of Media On children”1). They will believe anything that they see, read or are told. The minds of children and teens are still growing and are heavily influenced by their peers, adults of any sort and of course the media too. The influential power that many people have, either use it for good or for bad. Children have very sensitive and influential minds. Everyone was given a body and what they decide to do with it is their own choice. This choice should not be influenced by an outside source like peers or the media(“20 ways to love your body”2).Loving who you are and the body you have will make your life healthier and happier, instead of trying to conform to the “Norm.” We only have one body, so why not love what we’ve got and ignore what others think we should
