I recognize now that this dilemma is part of any collaborative project and this is why it is so important to make sure that there is an equal exchange of feedback and ideas in community projects. This project was also unique for me in that I came into the project after the filming and primary editing were done. This was my first experience working on a video project where I was solely the editor and had not helped during the other stages of production. I enjoyed this new challenge, but it also reinforced my appreciation for the importance of communication if you want to streamline the passing off of a project from one person to another. I am optimistic that the fundraising video that I created will be beneficial in bringing awareness to the tribe, encouraging people to not only donate, but to engage with the tribe and become invested in helping them fight for their original lands and preserving their culture. I do not know exactly how the video will be used in the future, but I am hopeful that the tribe will be successful in their struggle to become federally recognized, and I am interested in working with the tribe in the future on other video …show more content…
During our meeting it became clear that he would prefer a longer video that contained more of his stories. I also noticed that there may be a way to weave more of his teachings together, following the nature flow of his stories. Unfortunately, I found myself spending many hours just watching RJ’s interview, taking notes but not really knowing where to start and feeling like I didn 't totally grasp all of the footage. I spent much of my time watching and rewatching footage trying to find a way to weave it together. I began to realize that I would not have time to finish the video, and in the last week before finals I realized I would hardly have time to create a rough cut of the video. I decided that the best way to help the next student who would work on this project would be to organize the footage. I cleaned up the project file and synced the three camera angles together so that it will be easy to drag and drop the footage into a new timeline and cut between the three angles
