With the rigor of the classes and the amount of material the teachers must cover, I have gradually learned how to take control of my learning. By managing my time and learning how to study smart by reading and outlining the information, I have learned the importance of being independent with my learning. By being identified as a gifted student, I was automatically encouraged to participate and take these courses, and because of this, I was able to learn about my learning style and how I can improve my retention aptitude. Understanding the history, as well as the science and mathematics that went along with it and the literature that came about because of it, has helped me to understand current events. More importantly, they help me understand why society is the way it is, where ideas came from, and how I have the power to make a difference. I am a gifted, special person and, with this intelligence that has been nurtured and encouraged, comes the responsibility to help others grow and reach their potential.
