The Meaning behind the Name
Do you know what a Shrew is? Or how to tame one? Well in this tale of Taming of the Shrew will give you all the information that you need. Shakespeare wrote many play, but his most underrated were his comedies. Taming of his shrew is a comedy about a man taming his ignorant, bad-manured, horrendous wife. A shrew is a bad-tempered or aggressively assertive woman. Katherine is shrew is this tale and she needs some taming. Petruchio is the man for that task. In this essay I tell you the many reason this play got its name like why Kate needs taming, how Petruchio tames her, and if it worked or not. What do you think? Will it work or not?
Kate is one of the main characters is this comedy. She’s not the nicest mannered woman. She acts like she is the most important person on this earth. Baptista her father wants to find someone to marry her, but that’s impossible. Finally, Petruchio comes along to wed the “lovely” Kate, but there is one flaw. Baptista said “look in act 2 scene 1 for the quote” How will Petruchio do it? He has to make Her love him because without it Bianca can’t get married. Bianca is Kate’s beautiful sister, that’s Baptista loves more. Baptista has to find Kate a husband so he can send Bianca off for the …show more content…
Did Petruchio’s plan work? Well it did! Kate is finally tamed. The first sign is when Petruchio makes Kate believe something isn’t what it actually is like Petruchio says it’s the moon when it’s actually the sun and Kate finally gives in to what he says. By the end of the book we can really start to see how tamed Kate really is.. “Quote from the bet scene” in this quote you can see where Kate listens to everything Petruchio says. Since she is tamed Petruchio won the bet and made some money off of it. Kate came to Petruchio right when he asked unlike the other wives. Kate is tamed, what a miracle.
