The Mckinsey 7S Model: Factors Affecting Whole Foods

An organizational diagnosis is necessary to provide an organizational development (OD) strategy to improve the effectiveness of that organization. In order to provide such an OD strategy, the organization diagnosis must determine the current level at which the organization functions in normal operations (Falleta, 2005).
This paper will evaluate some of the organizational diagnosis models that are used for OD in order to evaluate the issues, and their remedial strategies. In addition to the six organizational diagnostic models that will be described, these models will be evaluated in effectiveness as they relate to Whole Foods Market and the most suitable model will be identified.

WFM, despite rapid growth and consumer loyalty, faces internal and external issues like any other large organization. Some of these issues include a struggling United States economy as Americans face a stunted recovery from recession, and some reports suggest that the economy is shrinking, if only for a short time (Schwartz, 2015). Additionally, there is an increasing amount of competition in the organic food industry as the traditional grocery vendors are providing more low-cost options for the health-conscious. Many other external factors, as such presented by the IRS, SEC, FTC and other government agencies can present some problems for industry in general, which is a significant consideration for the company (Conti, 2002).
Analyzing these factors, especially external factors, is a daunting task for any organization, and must be considered carefully when choosing an appropriate diagnostic model.
A Suitable Model for WFM
Having discussed a few of the issues facing WFM and some factors that significantly impact the company, the model best suited for the company the congruence model, and the following paragraphs will explain
