Maze Runner
“Wicked is good,” said Ava Paige (Patricia Clarkson) in the film ‘The Maze Runner’. Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) frustrated and a curious teenager when brought into the maze soon decides to find more about it. Instantly when he arrives at the maze he runs away from the others and is called a runner by the other teenage boys. Chris Nashawaty from the entertainment website, says “Thomas quickly proves to be an invaluable addition to the tribe. He’s curious and brave and he doesn’t cower from the Glade’s bully. He’s such an asset, in fact, that he takes his place among the most heroic subgroup, the Runners. Thomas knows that the maze isn’t normal. It isn’t normal for all of them to be in there and that they don’t know anything from their

Yet a critical evaluation of rules reveals that you may have to dis obey rules to save other lives or yours. Thomas wants truth. He’s not being told the whole truth at times and becomes frustrated. We all can compare to this and that’s what makes this stand out in the maze runner. They would only give Thomas parts of the truth. One such as there are grievers and kill you but not that they can sting you and you’d still be alive and become zombie like. Thomas doesn’t know much about this until Ben attacks him. The maze runner leaves its audience with questions that most people would want to ask. Thomas asks some of these questions to other Gladers that the audience may ask. Chris Nashawaty says his opinion on the maze runner’s questions, “The promising set-up raises so many puzzle-piece questions that when it’s all finally explained in the final reel, you can’t help feeling a bit gypped. Having not read the book, I was hoping for a more satisfying payoff than the one I got.” Fear is a big role in the maze runner. Not knowing where they are or not remember. Not knowing where they are or not remembering anything from the outer world becomes a second nature to them and wonder what will happen. Ebiri Bilge says likewise, “O’Brien looks great when freaked out. That’s a real talent for a young actor.” O’Brien uses his fear or being scared and converts it into adrenalin when …show more content…
The very much used adrenalin is used multiple times to not give its audience much to think of but the movie. An example is when Thomas and Minho found a way out of the maze and the maze suddenly begins to chance in the middle of the day. They rush back to the glade and tell the others. Then the mazes doors don’t close at night but three more doors open. The grievers come into the glade and attack them killing many. O’Brien here while running away from the grievers shows his fear and adrenalin to make the audience feel frightened as they

In the book the Maze Runner by James Dashner demonstrates the importance of sacrifice, taking risks and bravery when it comes to surviving, he does this by creating a detailed setting. When Thomas first went into the maze he saw what grew in the depths of the other side, “Thomas pushed aside the the swelling panic and set himself to work… he found a thick growth of ivy covering most of the stone” (121) Thomas wasn’t sure about what lurked on the other side of the wall, he had only seen the environment within the glade, which was just a grass field and shrubbery. Thomas risked going into the maze, because he wanted to help the runners find a way out. The author shows that a change of scenery could be the death of you but Thomas knew that…

The character Thomas Builds-the-Fire in the book The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven tells many different stories of the hardships each Indian on the reservation deals with, and of the how the people on the reservation can handle these hardships. The stories he uses in this book are mostly fictional, but they tell stories in a different way than how your mind actually puts it. He adds a little more magic in his stories to make them sound believable. It is through Thomas’ stories that make people actually think about what happens on and of the reservation. In 2003, Andre Thomas viciously attacked and killed his ex-wife and her two children, and was sentenced to death row. His defense argued that he was not eligible for death row because of his mental state. The court ignored the argument and passed it off, saying that they were using his illness as an excuse to “get out of” maximum punishment. As demonstrated in this case, mental illness is not given the attention it deserves when determining a sentence. Cases such as these have aroused concern how fair the criminal court is towards the mentally ill.…

Before the Europeans, ancient hunters crossed the Bering strait to become the first inhabitants of what is now the United States. As Europeans explored, they found savage people inhabiting the land that they recently claimed. Countless times in the United States history, native people have been booted from their land and forced to move, pushed into boarding schools, and murdered all because they disgusted Europeans. In the time since the Europeans migrated to North America, the natives have only been abhorred and mocked. Even in today’s liberal society it is evident that the Native American culture is still subject to all kinds of discrimination, through TV shows, movies, and other types of media.…

In the book the only people that have flashbacks are : Thomas, Aris, and Teresa, whereas in the movie only Thomas has flashbacks. Now this is due to the fact that before the trio were sent into doing all the mazes, and tests they were the ones to come up with all these tests to cure the flare, which is a disease obtained from the sun flare that happened years ago, which scorched every place on the planet (that we know of). Those who happened to have the flare for a long time will turn into something similar to a “zombie” except these guys don’t want brains they just want you dead. In the book the flashbacks that occur mainly for Thomas dictate how most of them in their current situation are in this mess, but only small pieces of memories, or dreams will occur for Thomas every once in awhile. Whereas, in the movie, Thomas doesn’t have a dream, or memory flashback at all in the entirety of the film, this is something that is kinda big in the Maze Runner series, because without it, it doesn’t explain to the viewers, or readers how did they get there in the first place?…
