The Maze Runner Essay

The Maze Runner by James Dashner is a really good book. The genre is young adult/science fiction/post-apocalyptic fiction. The point of view is limited third person and the main idea is that a bunch of kids as well as teenagers are stuck in an ever changing Maze with monsters, also they need to find a way to escape it. The people who put them all in the Maze are the Creators. They are part of an organization called W.I.C.K.E.D. It stands for World In Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department. The story takes place around May 4th, 2031. The location of where the kids are living is called the Glade. The kids call themselves the Gladers. A quote describing the Glade is, “The floor of the courtyard looked like it was made of huge stone blocks, …show more content…
Alby gets stung by a Griever, so Thomas has to keep Alby as well as himself alive during the night, a girl comes out of the box, Thomas and Minho discover the portal, and when Gally is being controlled by the Creators so he kills Chuck. Then, Thomas beats Gally up. All of those events are important to the change of the book. When Teresa comes out of the box, she is the only girl. When Thomas keeps himself and Alby alive during the night out in the Maze, he shows the Gladers that it is possible to stay out in the Maze at night. When Gally kills Chuck, it shows how powerful the Creators and the W.I.C.K.E.D organization actually are. In conclusion, I think that the Maze Runner by James Dashner is a very good book and I would recommend it for an older audience since it has mild violence in it. I like that Thomas and Teresa can speak telepathically to each other. I also like that Thomas is the new kid and he is also the hero in the story. The way that all of the other characters kind of doubt him and Thomas proves them wrong by being the hero is really nice. The Maze Runner is one of the best books I have ever

The Cather in the Rye really sucked me in and got me thinking about a lot. The book is about teenager Holden Caulfield and his experiences growing up and maturing in New York before he decides to go home. Initially the book started out kind of slow but quickly picked up and I had a hard time putting it down. The Catcher in the Rye quickly caught my attention and dragged me in. In the second chapter of the book while Holden is talking to his history teacher Mr. Spencer about how life is just a game, Holden states “Game, my ass.…

Guillermo del Toro uses visual storytelling, character traits, and comparison through editing to convey the essential themes of Romance and fairytales. He then uses these strategies to mix fantasy and reality, and increase the sense of danger for Ofelia and the viewer. In the classic Romance narrative, the hero acts as a metaphor for the divine, and the villain acts as a metaphor for the devil. Ofelia in Pan’s Labyrinth is the hero that is a associated with nature, and therefore the divine. Ofelia is presented wearing earthy tones, surrounded by natural light and often leaving man-made locations for the forest.…

The author, the History, and the Story The author’s personal experiences and the history of the worlds past are used as a literary masterpiece: from Khaled Hoessini’s The Kite Runner that tells of the last days of the Afghan monarchy in the 1970s to the post-Taliban near present or Markus Zuask’s exploration of the Holocaust in The Book Thief to Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird that tells a story by depicting life-altering events throughout his childhood. History is the study of change overtime and historical fiction brings the history alive through characterization, themes and an accurate setting. The historical experience is entertaining and instructive – a prominent pattern in literature that creates an in-depth story as well as lasting…

As far back as I can remember, reading has always been a tremendous part of my life. Growing up, my mother introduced reading as one of the most important skills I could learn. Throughout my childhood, my entire family constantly incorporated reading into my daily schedule by helping me complete word searches, reading books, or rehearsing the ABC’s. Every night before bed, my mother and I would read a page out of a children’s bible book called Blessings Every Day as opposed to the classic Green Eggs and Ham. Reading has taught me how to exercise my imagination, how to effectively communicate with others, and relieves my stress.…

When I read the book, I believe I was a sophomore in Ms. Brown’s class and I shockingly liked the book. The reason why I say shockingly is because I never read books and when I do, I rarely like them. After we read the book we watched the movie, and I thought that it was a real disappointment.…
