The movie Grease displays the epitome of girls night, Sandy and her new-found friends spend a night at Rizzo’s house singing, gossiping, and writing love letters. Sandy goes in the bathroom, flustered and overwhelmed by the plethora of questions being pushed on her by the Pink Ladies, and Rizzo begins the iconic song, “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee.” The song is funny at the expense of Sandy, and the recognition of being made fun of drives Sandy to a ponderous ballad. Another social factor that contributes to the rise of this ‘epidemic’ is the role of the media and in recent times: social media. According to Tiggermann and Pickering (2006), mass media such as television, the internet, magazines and movies, bombard the lives of those in globalized societies.
