Raghunthan (2011) provides a reflection from a scene in the movie “The Matrix” demonstrating a choice we all make in life. Morpheus gives Neo a choice between two pills—a red pill and a blue pill. "Take the blue pill," says Morpheus, "and the story ends. You awake in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe."
"You take the red pill," he continues, "you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Remember: All I'm offering is the truth, nothing more. Morpheus thus offers Neo a choice between "life as usual," and "knowing the Truth."
In our society today, people are in a desperate search for truth, and if provided a choice, I believe most would choose the red pill just as Neo did in. What is it that makes

For me, God is my ultimate source of truth for God is truth (Deut. 32:4; Ps. 31:5; Is. 65:16). MacArthur (2008) states, “Truth cannot be adequately explained, recognized, understood, or defined without God as the source. Since He alone is eternal and self-existent and He alone is the Creator of all else, He is the fountain of all truth”
In a society of relativism and falsehood it is easy to become apathetic and buy into secular teachings (Col. 2:8) but God showed us the truth through Jesus, who said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6, NIV). God desires for us to know the truth. He provided the Bible for us to understand the truth, and guides us toward truth though the Holy Spirit (I Jn. 2:20). In everyday life, I attempt to filter all my decisions and actions through the truths within the Bible. Unfortunately, not all encounters in life are specifically addressed in scripture, what then? At that point I rely upon the Holy Spirit to direct me by utilizing current available knowledge, such as research, and common sense. It my goal and purpose to live my life with the truth and wisdom that God provides. “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock (Matt. 7:24, NIV). It is essential that we all have truth within our lives to direct our thoughts and

Do we want to know the Truth (the red pill) or do we just want to forget about it, wake up, and believe whatever we want to believe (the blue pill). • The characters in the Matrix show their disgust at Cypher who wants to be returned to the Matrix. Morpheus even says to Neo at one point, “If you could return to the Matrix, would you want to?” This is a fitting description of how sickened God is when a believer returns to the world after being set free; “It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. Of them the proverbs are true: ‘A dog returns to its vomit . . .’”…

Many people in the world today have decided that a world view does not matter; that everyone can simply believe what they would like to believe, and it would not make a difference. However, this is not true; a man’s worldview determines his every act! (Overman) Hitler for example, believed that Jews, disabled people, and elderly people were worthless; he thought that he could make a perfect world.…

In “The Matrix,” Neo makes the choice between the red (truth) pill and the blue (ignorance) pill. In the film Neo choses to know the truth because of all the crazy things he had recently seen, all the questions that were burning in his mind, and the limited time he had to choose. Although Neo chose to know the truth, there are many reasons one could choose either. Neo chooses the red pill because he has felt, and seen, that there was something “off” about his life.…

Journal 1 After the first two weeks of lecture in Cinema Appreciation I have learned a great deal more about what goes into making a film. I was under the impression that there was one magical camera that could change settings to capture the diverse range of images instantaneously. Active viewing was something, I thought I did, but it wasn’t until I took a step back and saw the variety of shots and how each one of them is put together that I realized that there is more then one way to watch a movie. The different ways that a film is shot and how the scene is constructed are ways directors convey meaning to the audience. Film language and mise-en-scene are greatly present during the film Edge of Tomorrow.…

The Matrix is an action science fiction film that representationally expresses the controversy between a parallel universe and the reality. I am going to be using one of the four stylistic controls, mise-en-scène, which is used to convey underlying messages and hidden symbols. I will do that by looking at the lighting and the importance of reflective surfaces and what they represent. I will therefore analyze a specific sequence in the movie, and discuss the fundamental aspects to show how it links with the film as a whole.…
