The Martian Compare And Contrast

Decent Essays
When I read the book, The Martian, I was quite intrigued and could definitely spot the differences easily, like how Mark Watney describes his situation. It was more for comedic relief in my mind, but in the book, I see it as being more serious. I liked the movie as well. I loved seeing Matt Damon trying to work out everything his character came across like when he found Pathfinder and was able to contact NASA. Throughout the movie, Watney is found always the hero to himself, when in the book he fails and needs to experiment.
Both the book and the movie are great. Personally, I liked the movie best because I am more of a visual person. I recommend the movie because it was funnier to see an actual actor and more interesting to see an actual

In the book, however, it went into more detail about how distant she was with her father. In the end, both the book and the movie have many similarities and differences. In my opinion though, I like the book better than the movie, because it goes deeper with important details than the movie does. The main characters Julie and R’s character development doesn’t change the way their relationship turns out.…

Otherwise, in the movie, it showed more dialogue. Also, it made some scenes seem more intense than in the book. Adding sound effects and music. Also, think about the different qualities as you hear differences and comparisons of the movie and the book. When I read a book then watch the movie it is hard for me to tell which one is better, so sometimes you might have to right what you think down and see what other people think about what you said. It is hard sometimes to realize if the movie characters are better or if the book characters are better than the movie. First off, when you read about the book characters you get to think what they look like and what they are sounding like. You get to use your imagination to…

There are some differences between what the movie talks about and what the book talks about of the story “The Freedom Writers.” Me personally i think that the movie is better because i am seeing it with my own eyes. The Martian The closest Mars and Earth will ever be is 54.6 million kilometers. That has to be a bad feeling when it’s 2035 and your crew has just left you all alone on Mars. In The Martian book and movie we find out just how Mark Watney felt as he fought for his life while stranded on Mars and his strong desire to be reunited with Earth. The movie left out many important details that were included in the book, such as getting to know Watney before hopping into his journey and despite its lack of details, the movie took less time and was a great visualization of Andy Weir's words. Reading the book was more enjoyable to me because additional details were included, and I was able to use my imagination.…

In “The Landlady”, Billy Weaver is lured into a seemingly normal bed and breakfast by an old lady who, despite her gentle and unthreatening appearance, wants to kill him. It is a story about how those with cruel intent may take advantage of those who are innocent and naive. Although the book and the movie can be arguably similar if generalized, there are many differences that may change the way a reader/viewer may grasp the concept of the story. Since a movie and book cannot be exactly the same, the film version is bound to have things that differ from the text. One example of how the book develops the development of the story is with the setting.…

Firstly, the movie was lacking a lot of detail. For instance, I thought that the book had every little detail that was needed to create a great image of the Maze. Hence, with your imagination, you can create anything, but with a film, you can only work so much because in a movie not everything is possible. Therefore, when reading The Maze Runner all the imagery and descriptions were astounding and overall gave a better image with imagination. Secondly, the movie just does not feel the same as when you are reading the book.…

It seems an unfair view to expect a movie about a book to be exactly the same down to every single detail. Communities of fans will always find something wrong with a story, for it has “failed” to match expectation. Books are a place where someone can be dragged into the story and forget about everything else for a short while. Movies do the exact same thing, except it is seen as an easier way than books for a lot of people. Ignoring obvious differences (such as the fact that one is in picture form, and the other is in words), movies and books may not be so different after all.…
