The Marshall Plan made on April 3, 1948 stopped West Germany from going communist, because after the war, they were devastated by the destruction and high reparations. The Communists already had half of their country, and poverty and destitution, such as that the Morgenthau Plan would have brought Germany, would have led West Germany to communism. That would have been a disaster for Europe and the world, as they would have the biggest workforce in Europe, and potential men for their armies. The Marshall plan effectively stopped Communism's westward lurch, as they had everything east of West Germany. Picture if France neighbored a communist nation, and so would the UK have.
