Although Iago is a very manipulative character, one can not deny his skill of persuasion. He hones in on a character’s weakness and, through the weakness, brings all the characters down. Roderigo was a very easy manipulative target for Iago. Roderigo is controlled by his emotions only. Iago uses Roderigo’s deep love for Desdemona against him. By constantly reassuring Roderigo that he can win over Desdemona for him, Iago uses him for sport and profit. Through Roderigo’s emotions, Iago controls and uses him against Othello. When it comes to Brabantio, Iago uses his racism against him. Iago describes Othello, the man who ran off with his daughter, by using derogatory terms that only infuriate Brabantio.
